aaaaa!!! i went to that 5k this morning, and the first things i realized was how different it was from track meets. the starting was different, for one. it was kinda weird to me. but then i started off and we went down the path i normally go and i thought "ok yay! i know this course by heart!" and then we went a different way. and it went for a little bit and it was ok, until i started noticing "HOLY SHIT WHY ARE THERE SO MANY HILLS?!" i mean, i love hills. that's exhilariating and i love them. buit seriously? what the hell! that was the longest 3.1 miles ever. giant hills that dwarfed the single uphill climb i go through on my normal course. but in all i had fun. i got 25:57! I GOT 25:57 ! (i will remind you that this is still within the confines of 25 minutes, thank you very much, and i would also like to point out that i won my age group and 4th out of women, so i'm not horrible, and while varsity guys can mange about 17 minutes, it's different for girls) i was pretty happy that it was just under 30 and i gulped down an entire bottle of water that they handed me at the end. so now my legs are sore, my head is filled with encouragment, and i'm happy :D
my aunt, uncle, and grandma came over for a bbq today. and after lunch we went over to see my grandma's cousin, who has really bad cancer :( it was really sad to be there, and his daughter from arizona is staying with him because he can't be alone. and she's having problem's because of the stress. can you imagine having to take care of your unable father in his last days? how hard that would be? it was so heartbreaking, her dad went in the house and my aunt asked how se was, and just her face was so sad that i wanted to cry. but i'm really glad that i went, because we don't know how much longer he's going to make it. and it was good to see him.
i'm at my friend's house with another friend, and we've been playing mario kart. and we are extremly vocal about it! we were screaming and cursing and being so loud that i'm surprised the neighbor's didn't complain. i suck at mario kart. i came in 12th. out of 12. but that is an awesome game! now they're playing guitar hero and i'm writing this and i'm glad that i did the race and i'm glad that i visited my grandma's cousin and i'm glad to be here with two of my best friends. :)
